If you’ve moved or are moving, don’t forget to redirect your post to your new address to avoid missing anything important. If you miss things such as bills you could face missing payments which could have a detrimental effect to your credit score.
Use the Royal Mail’s postal redirection service to redirect your mail, or contact the supplier on their hotlines to change your address!
If you have a forwarding address for the person, note this down, or simply pop ‘return to sender’ on the envelope and re-post it. The sender will then be aware the recipient is no longer at this address.
Do not open the post – it’s illegal to do so!
Once you’ve moved, you will need to register to vote at your new address. If you aren’t registered at your new address then you will be unable to have a say on who represents you.

When moving you will need to make sure all your direct debits are in order for things such as council tax, electricity, water, broadband and more. Before moving, make a simple list of everything that will need to be changed to ensure nothing is missed – and therefore cut off!
If you’re renting unfurnished or buying, it can get super expensive when it comes to making a house a home. Sofas, beds, tables, etc.. all add up. Try and reduce costs by using sites like Freecycle or Freegle – they’re great for finding second hand furniture that people no longer want.
Looking online or searching your local second hand shops is a great way to find discounted furniture too.
Get contents insurance! If you are renting then your landlord should already have buildings insurance but it is up to you to insure your belongings – if you’ve bought then you will need to get buildings insurance too.
